Phew. Some people just can't avoid trouble. Having watched Perfect Storm, I was made aware of several things. I never knew so much danger was associated with getting fish onto our plate, the sea is phenomenally powerful, and I love dry land more than ever. The film traced the true life events of a band of fisherman who went into the eye of the most ferocious storm back in 1991. Their quiet North American sea village had seen thousands of fisherman die over the centuries. Yet, the industry is still thriving. George Clooney, the skipper and Mark Wahlberg crew a boat through hundred foot waves and monstrous winds. The real star is the storm, which rages unabated. The fishing vessel struggles to get home through deadly weather. Of course, much heroics, sailors washed overboard, frayed nerves, all what you'd expect from a less than relaxing day out on the ocean waves. The end was frankly startling and depressing. I finished the film rather dismayed and sullen. Maybe that's the way millions of other cinema goers felt. Is that why the film can be bought for 3.99 in many sales at the moment? I think the film was hyped up too much, and when seen, was disappointing. I didn't like the end, although it was what happened. And, I couldn't watch it again, it depresses too much. I eat fish, but with less enthusiasm now. Is it worth so much cost?
