note: also appears in part on Flixster and The Student Room I am among the few who actually enjoyed Thomas Jane's 2004 The Punisher film, and while it wasn't perfect, I admired it as the first R-rated Marvel comic book film, and it was gloriously over the top. The spiritual sequel, which has recast The Punisher aka Frank Castle, gained a lot of notoriety for its absurdly violent trailer, and there was a lot of fear that the film was going to be toned down to a 12A rating, but fortunately, the film was released as the fully violent, hilariously overblown 18 rating that deserved. A review of just the film, Punisher: War Zone was produced in 2008 and was released on region 2 DVD and Blu-Ray in June 2009.
