Advantages: Wicked sound effects, Excellent story line and plot

Disadvantages: Special features arent great

I must admit that when the film first arrived at cinema i felt that it was just going to be another one of those low budget, poor horror flicks that came and go within a week. However after reading a few reviews i realised that the film might actually be worth watching, but it still wasnt enough to make me go see it in the cinema.

Instead i waited until i had rented out all of the other major film titles, and then one day we rented the ring and went round our friends house to watch the full length film.

What can i say about the beginning?, well it starts with two EXTRMELY fit teenagers, with rather small skirts, and i just loved watchin the scared looks on their faces as they explored strange going ons in their house.

Anyway, less of the beginning, the film is actually about a videotape that has been created by a strange and unusual family and whoever watches the tape receives a phonecall almost immediatly informing them that they only seven days to live, and when there time is up the effect of the tape is that the characters heart stops and they die, and there is a wonderful image of one of the teenagers in the beginning whose heart has stopped.

The family who produced the tape despised one of their children, eventually chucking her down a well for blindfolded. This is explained in more detail in the film as the main character watches the film and then has to try and unravel its secrets, before her seven days is up.

The sound is of a very good quality, especially with surround sound, we had two friends that at one stage couldnt even watch, mainly because all of the jumpy horror bits appear unexpectadly which i feel has worked wonderfully well, and is a great asset to the film.

Although the film may not have many top named celebrities the characters in the film do play their roles very well and this again is something the crew should be praised for.

The added features are o.k, there is some variety, but
not an awful lot. Thery are worth a watch, and at the moment im within two minds whether or not to buy this film on dvd, because the horror bits in the film will never cease to become boring. Overall trhis is definitly worth a watch, and especially if you are the kind of person who likes stories that need a bit of concentration to follow and understand, because the storyline to this film has been thought of by very clever people and it really does take some thought, especially at the end to understand what happened to the end characters. To be perfectly honest i had to watch the ending twice to understand exactly what the ending was about, as well as being told by friends, but then im not the kind of person that can really follow a good storyline. Even so it is a wicked film!!
