Advantages: Sean Connery, Nicholas Cage
Disadvantages: None
<REVISITED> Alcatraz, that hard imposing structure in San Fransisco bay is the setting for this superb Action/Thriller. The quality of the film shines through it’s well selected cast: - Sean Connery is John Mason, a former SAS operative and a previous ‘guest’ of the US government at Alcatraz Island. Nicolas Cage plays a FBI biochemical expert (super nerd) called Stanley Goodspeed , who’s pregnant girlfriend is following him to SF for a romantic weekend. Special mention goes to the war hero turned ‘bad guy’ Ed Harris, who’s portrays US Marine General Hummel with gritty determination. OK the basic plot, General Hummel and his ‘army’ of mercenary soldiers steal a number of VS Gas rockets from a ‘safe’ storage area and transport them to Alcatraz where they seize a number of civilian hostages. Contacting the Pentagon ,they demand a ransom of $100 million for the return of the hostages, if the do not get what they want they will launch the rockets at SF, killing every living creature in the city. A rescue attempt must be made, Nicholas Cage is the man to defuse the rockets and Sean Connery is the reluctant guide as he was the only man to escape from the prison. The Action sequences are well implemented, I particularly like the car chase through the streets of San Fransisco The excellent acting of Sean Connery, once again proving that age is no barrier, is well complimented by Nicholas Cage who’s office bound scientist gets a fast lesson in action from the school of hard knocks. Ed Harris shows how to be bad but still have a heart. In conclusion, ‘The Rock’ is first class entertainment with clearly defined characters and a plot that is not demanding on the audience

- 31/10/01 Don't worry about giving points back dragon... you only have to look at the early opinions of lots of longer-term dooyoo members, to see that many people start off skimming the surface but through spending a little more time on there ops and developing their own style come to write great stuff that lots of people read. It is worth taking a bit more time on your ops as it will pay dividends. I wish you every success and hope you have fun :o) |

- 13/08/01 Many thanks for the feedback, no offence has been taken. I will tidy up my act. Is there anyway to give back the points? |

- 12/08/01 Please don't think I'm having a go, because I'm not. DooYoo is a community and people who play here like it to be the best it can be.
From tomorrow the way you get miles changes.
It will no longer gain you 5p everytime a member clicks onto one of your ops, the member then has to go on to give you a rating.
If you keep your ops at the standard that they are at the moment then you will find that a lot of people will not bother rating them and you will not get any miles and miles mean pennies.
You' ;ve already had £2.30 from members, but you've not rated anybody elses opinions, so you are not giving anyone an incentve to read yours.
Take some time to read some of the ops in the "How To Write for DooYoo" category and you'll soon fit right in.
And again, please don't think I am attacking you, just offering constructive criticism.
