I have been sitting here for quite sometime now trying to decide what I could review next, I have a few options, but nothing that jumps out at me. So as I am absentmindedly staring into space my dvd collection catches my eye, (owww, lol!), I dive in and find my beloved "Royle family" dvd, so decided to give it a go. Now before I review any of the episodes from the second series I must fill in a little background information. The family that the series is based on is, obviously, the "Royles". A working class family from up North, and I say working in the loosest sense due to the fact only two of them actually have ... Read the complete review

Season Two of the Royle family starts just after the first one finished. Dave and Denise have returned from their honeymoon in Tenerife and life has returned to normal for them all...which consists of sitting in the living room watching television together. But there is news.... Denise turns down a cigarette! 'Mam..Dad we're pregnant' 'But you said we wern't gonna say anything' gasps Dave. The following episodes focus entirely on Denise and her pregnancy - yes, she is still craving aeros and yes she is having to have a nap in the afternoon because it is so tiring being pregnant. Cheryl, her ... Read the complete review

This review is specific to season 2. For my general comments on the show, see the last paragraph. Season two focuses on Dave and Denise expecting a baby, but of course that doesn't change the format of the show; the whole family still spend every episode sat in front of the telly, chatting and smoking. As I said in my review of season 1, the comedy comes not in set gags or jokes, but in the dialogue and relatabililty of what is going on. In season two we see more depth added to the father daughter relationship of Jim and Denise. At the end of season one, on the wedding day, there was a very moving moment between the two, and season two is no ... Read the complete review

The Royal Famly are back doing the best thing they know and watching Tv. As usuall Barbara is again doing all the work and put upon Anthony is making all the tea's while Denise and Jim Do nothing but be a pain. The main build up through this series is denise's pregnancy and he ending does not dissapoint. The series works so well because its just observational and it portrays a middle class family very well. The series has its highlights such as jims banjo playing and The Christmas special with the Baby. The key scene of the whole series is the moment Jim gets up of his sofa and cradles his distraught daughter. As emotional value is so underplayed ... Read the complete review

The popular BBC Comedy series the Royle Family has recently been given a new lease on life on DVD. I am going to give you a brief description of what to expect. The Royle Family is a comedy programme which you will either love or hate. If you are into frantic paced programmes then you will very the Royle Family pretty boring. Not much actually happens in an Episode apart from watching Tv and making cups of Tea. It is the character and dialog that make this programme a classic. It is based around a family (The Royle's) who seem to sit around the TV. There is Jim Royle who in my opinion is the funniest. He likes to take the mick out of everyone. Other ...
