Advantages: All Episodes on 1 disk, Classic series

Disadvantages: Not the greatest picture

The popular BBC Comedy series the Royle Family has recently been given a new lease on life on DVD. I am going to give you a brief description of what to expect.

The Royle Family is a comedy programme which you will either love or hate. If you are into frantic paced programmes then you will very the Royle Family pretty boring. Not much actually happens in an Episode apart from watching Tv and making cups of Tea. It is the character and dialog that make this programme a classic. It is based around a family (The Royle's) who seem to sit around the TV. There is Jim Royle who in my opinion is the funniest. He likes to take the mick out of everyone. Other characters are his wife Barabara, Antony (Son), Denise (Daughter), Nan and David (Son in Law). In the second series David and Denise are no married and are about to have a baby. Also included on the DVD is the Christmas episdoe which is very good.

The Royle Family Series 2 on DVD is fantastic. There are very little in the way of extras but that doesnt really matter. The menu's are very simple as well. The main thing is that all episodes are contained on 1 DVD and it is hassle free watching them all. With some of the Friends DVDs you have to turn over the Disc half way through. The picture quality is not the greatest but I think that it is down to the way the series is filmed. If you compare the DVD release to the VHS release then you will see a massive difference.

If you are after a way of keeping these classic episodes on a format that won't fade then I would recommend buying this DVD. Well you are at it you might as well get the first series as well!
