Advantages: Great plot, non-stop action
Disadvantages: Don't know...shows a lot of films up?
There really aren't many films that boast as much class as this, a film of non-stop action from start to finish. This film starts Tim Robbins as City banker, Andy Dufresne, and Morgan Freeman as Red.
The film starts with Andy wrongly being convicted of murder of his wife and her lover. He's sent to prison with a double life sentence.
When in prison Andy forms a close friendship with Red, and surprisingly becomes popular with the prison's guards. He does this by helping them using the knowledge he picked up as a banker to help them make money and filling in their tax returns.
However, by doing this he finds that the guards may be helpful to him in some respects, i.e. he gets bullied, but they sort the bullies out! He finds it increasingly difficult to get out of prison. Years after he first got there a new prisoner comes who seems certain he has evidence that can clear Andy, yet he is then killed off.
A great film with a great twist, I certainly wasn't expecting it. It was pleasing to see a happy ending, as the film shows Andy struggle through prison life, finding himself different hobbies through the years to pass the time.
The great thing about this film though, like I said above, is it's brilliant cast. After watching this film, I came to Rate Tim Robins and Morgan Freeman. This is a Must see!
Summary: Non-stop action with interesting twist, worth watching!
