Advantages: Robbins, Gunton, Freeman, Storytelling, Ending, Music, Inspirational

Disadvantages: There are none for me

I feel this is a film more loved by the fans than by the critics, a huge favourite on IMDB in 1st or 2nd place since its entrance into the charts whereas almost always nowhere in a list of top 10's by movie critics. Why this is, I don't know, which is better, Green Mile or Shawshank Redemption, most critics vote Green Mile.

This film for me is much better, the story or a criminal wrongly convicted of murdering his wife and her lover is sent to Shawshank, as the film goes on Robbins' character starts to become more respected with his fellow inmates especially with Morgan Freeman as Red (is he ever in a bad film, the contract maybe?).

The film is a big struggle between Robbins and the officers to prove his innocence, after a couple of chances of freedom escape him, Robbins decides to take matters into his own hands, until we realise he's had a plan escalating for the past 20 years of his life...

A long film which just flies past when watching it, the interaction between the two protagonists is brilliant to watch and the narration from Freeman is as good as it always is.

A shout out must go out to Bob Gunton as well, a brilliant support and fully deserves praise for a brilliant portrayal as the warden, I've never read Steven Kings short novel this was based on, perhaps I should, if it's anything like this film, it's certainly worth the money
