Advantages: Enthralling and moving

Disadvantages: that there aren't more films like this

I love the Shawshank Redemption, it's one of my favourite films of all time. It's easy to watch, full of drama, hope, disgust, you really get involved with the story.

I'll not say everything about the plot not to ruin it for those who haven't seen it.

It starts of with a murder of a woman, and her husband (Andy) played by Tim Robbins is questioned, convicted and imprisoned. He was an accountant and he doesn't fit in the prison immediately. Morgan Freeman plays Red, a wise stalwart inmate who takes an interest in Andy, and a group of friends develops. The film details the atrocities that happen to Andy and many others, the corruption of the officials etc. It shows how someone can maintain hope and keep their spirits on a day to day basis despite every attempt to beat all faith out of you. It shows justice, as those who have done wrong get what's coming to them, and there is a happy ending, but not sickly.

Anything else would ruin the storyline, but trust me it's amazing, brilliantly directed and the quality of the story and acting is phenomenal. It's just a class, quality movie that no one should miss. It will suit all tastes and is easy to watch. There's an amazing twist or realisation that will blow you away. Go get it.
