Advantages: funny

Disadvantages: none

For me, the most unlikable, pointless characters in the Simpsons are Marge's sisters, most notably Selma. I just don't get them, and have never found them funny. Despite that, the best episode in this, the seventh series, is all about her!

The SImpsons is an American animation that tells the story of a group of bizarre people living in the fictional town of Springfield. From naughty teen Bart to nerdy sister Lisa, and dopey dad Homer to longsuffering mother Marge, every type of person is represented in the make-believe world. The storylines in each 20 minute episode are both lighthearted and deep, and therefore draw in both children and adults to sit back and watch TV's most loved family.

As I was saying, the best episode has to be 'A Fish Called Selma', where the actor Troy McClure falls in love with Selma. This show is a satire on acting, Hollywood and the whole industry. In it, Troy shows that there really is no business like show business. It's cringe-worthy stuff as we see clips of his performances, all of which make you burst out laughing. Also, there are hints that something is not quite right with Troy: "I like fish", and these subtle suggestions that he is some kind of sexual deviant hint at the dark underbelly of the industry.

As I have said in my reviews of other seasons, the clever satire in the show, coupled with the light-hearted silliness makes it a real winner. It's clever stuff when kids can watch it and all the satire goes over their heads, and vice versa for adults with the juvenile humour.

If you're new to the show, you should start further back than this to get to know the characters, but fans should buy this set on DVD for sure.
