Advantages: Light-hearted, funny, entertaining film
Disadvantages: Not very different from just a normal episode!
I'm not the biggest Simpsons fan in the world, but my partner loves it, and it's always on in our house as we eat dinner, so I've been turned around to it, and actually find myself getting into the episodes sometimes!
So, when I heard the Simpsons Movie was coming out, I wasn't too bothered about it, but agreed to watch it with my other half, just to keep him happy!
The film is really just like a feature length episode of the show - a reaaaally long episode, but all the characters, voices etc are the same.
I'm sure everyone is accustomed to the characters involved - the film is based around the Simpsons family. Homer is the idiot father of the family, who's ridiculous ideas and schemes are constantly getting him into trouble.
In the film, Homer's newest plan is to keep a pig, which he keeps in the house with him, much to the annoyance of t he rest of the family! He also decides to dump the pigs 'droppings' in the local lake, which leads to the whole of the town being classified as polluted, and ends up with the President encasing the whole town in a huge glass dome, and trapping all the inhabitants.
Eventually, it comes back to Homer and Bart to save the town and all the inhabitants.
Obviously this is a condensed plot, and the film includes lots of action, and the usual 'guest appearances' as expected by Simpsons fans. The film includes 'appearances' by Arnold Schwarzenegger and Greenday.
As expected with the Simpsons, the film is chock full of comedy moments, funny one-liners and Homer's silly stunts.
My only problem with the film is that I was expecting something a little different, whereas this really just was like a very long general episode. Also, as funny as it was, I did feel it dragged on a little too long.
However, overall, a light-hearted, funny film, sure to attract a good few laughs!
Summary: A brilliantly entertaining film, lots of laughs!
