Advantages: touching powerful intellegent film

Disadvantages: ends too soon

The Sixth Sense is a great movie for many reasons, here are two:
1) Here is a touching, non-flashy powerful tale of ghosts and psychicism.
2) A child actor who manages to display more mature, authentic sensitivity and emotion than all of Hollywood's best actors.
l can't bring myself to say that this is a simple, "things that go bump in the night" type movie, because this film is more than that.
It's about a child who sees ghosts, all the time, but the ghosts are caught in the moment which represented the sadness of their life and the moment of their death.
Haley Joel Osmond plays the young boy who sees these terrible things, Bruce Willis plays the child psychologist determined to help him.
The thing that struck me most about this film is that it displays the power of belief (this makes sense RE the suprise ending) as the most affecting force in our lives. This isn't to take away from what is clearly a horrific life for the boy, but the film's sense of redemption, love and peace is overwhelming and leaves you thinking long after the film (the lengths the boy goes to protecting his mother, from what is for her an unbelievable reality, is hearbreaking).
At last a film with an intelligent, mature message - life is good because of love and because of our ability to communicate and help those around us (literally!).
