I never actually managed to catch the Sopranos when it was first aired on TV - however, I heard so many good things about it from friends and critics that I felt almost obliged to buy this DVD when it was released. Now, after watching every series of the Sopranos from start to finish, multiple times, it's now my opinion that it's one of the best TV dramas ever made. The Sopranos is a gangster drama that follows the life of Tony Soprano, a mob leader in New Jersey. One of the great things about The Sopranos, is how It differs from your average gangster movie. The Sopranos is not about gangster clichés, Tommy guns and heists. The show is more focused ... Read the complete review

I always meant to watch The Soprano's ever since it first started as the premise seemed the perfect show for me, but not wanting to start at any point but the first episode, season one, I decided to wait for the boxsets. These were released, but for a long time they were more expensive than any of the rest out there so I didn't bother with them until last xmas my girlfriend bought me the boxset of the whole collection. The Sopranos is David Chase's multi-award winning drama series about New Jersey mobster Tony Soprano (James Gandolfini) and his life between his two families - his wife and kids and his mafia associates. Tony suffers from panic attacks (this is ... Read the complete review

I watched the brilliance that is The Sopranos when it was on T.V, in fact I've seen it all the way through three times and never get sick of it so I decided it was high time I bought the series on DVD so I can indulge my love of it regularly. I have just finished watching series one and just like each time I've seen it on T.V it still amazes me with how good it is. The cast: The real family - Tony Soprano - James Gandolfini Carmela Soprano - Edie Falco Meadow Soprano - Jamie-Lynn Sigler Anthony Jr Soprano - Robert Iler Junior Soprano - Dominic Chianese Livia Soprano - Nancy Marchand Christopher Moltisanti - Michael ... Like many other reviewers of the Sopranos I didn't start watching it until after it had ended so Im thankful for these DVD Boxsets or I would have missed out on what must be considered one of the best TV programmes ever to be made. The programme focuses on Tony Soprano (James Gandolfini) and his family, well families... While one part of Tony is a New Jersey businessman, his other side is the Capo of the Soprano mafia family. Throughout the series, Tony has to balance between the 2 families while trying to keep his panic attacks under control. That's what makes him such a great character. On one hand he is one of the most respected and feared men ... Read the complete review

I had heard of the Sopranos when it first came out, but not being a Sky customer I assumed it was another one of those American programmes that people raved about but I would never watch. I dont even know if it has been on terrestrial TV here in the UK as it was one of those things that ended up at the back of my mind (like Lost now is). Anyway...I have a friend who has kindly lend me all of the series (credit crunch meaning there are lots more borrowed DVDs watched in our house now and board games played!) and I am slowly ploughing my way through them. To be honest the first episode I fell asleep during, it really didnt catch my ... Read the complete review
