A review of the Warner DVD, only £3.50 on amazon at time of writing. This is a legendary turkey from 1978, a big-budget disaster movie that lost huge amounts of money. Disaster movies had been big in the 70s, and Irwin Allen had made The Poseidon Adventure and The Towering Inferno, two of the biggest. So this must have seemed a surefire hit. The formula is well-known: get a load of characters with various 'issues' (hopes, rivalries, romances etc) and then have them come up against some disaster that leaves most of them dead in a welter of special effects and hammy acting.
