saw this film pretty much as soon as it came out on dvd (it had a different cover then) and it's such a hidden treasure that I decided I had to review it. ********The story This film is essentially about a thirty-something ambitionless nursery teacher (Dex) who coasts through life and has created his fusion philosophy of Buddhism lite, pop-philosophy and trying to be like all the cool 'Steves' in movies (Steve McQueen being the ultimate role model) which seems to bring him luck with the ladies despite his somewhat average looks: 'The Tao of Steve'. This film forms an Interesting concept of the aura that surrounds famous 'womanising' icons by the name of Steve. All Steve's have a charm unlike any other, all Steve's understand Women, all Steve's are male Icons, or at least that's what the film will have you believe. Famous Steve's the film suggest are the likes of McQueen, McGarrett, Austin et al (and not Martin!), and these characters are exactly who the films main subject, Dex, forms the basis of his life upon.
