5 Teenagers are going to stay at Franklin and Sally's fathers house. On the way they stop at a graveyard to check their grandfathers remains are safe after a series of grave robberies. On the way they are warned not to go to the house but they decide to go anyway. While they are there Kirk and Pam go to a house to get some gas but Kirk gets killed and Pam finds a room with furniture made from bones and such. She gets captured and hung on a meat hook then put in a freezer.

Jerry decides to go to investigate where they are and gets killed after finding Pam in the freezer. It starts to get dark and Franklin and Sally go to find what's happening. Franklin gets killed and Sally runs to the local gas station, where she is dragged back to the house. The family invite ehr to dinner, where she is the main course.

In britain the texas chainsaw massacre as been one of the most talked about video nasties. It had the reputation as being gruesome and scary, which is in part true but not as much as the rumours said. It was finally released in britain in 1999 and upon watchign it I found that although it is considerably scary, it isn't as bad as people think and this could disappoint some people.

However this film has an eerie atmosphere and feel to it. This is created by the werid music, the fact that this family have no reason or motive for killing, they just do for fun and also the fact that it makes you jump, the film goes from a suspense filled moment, when the characters feel safe but you know they aren't to the load noisy sound of a chainsaw, dissecting someone. This is by far Tobe Hoopers most frightening film. I would recommend it to anyone.
