Advantages: warped. unnerving

Disadvantages: a bit of an anticlimax

After watching Texas Chainsaw Massacre it's hard to see why it was banned for so many years in the UK. In fact it's hard to see why it was banned at all. Yes there is a lot of violence in the film but it's not extreme and hugely graphic like you've been led to believe. The film however is a classic and really gets under your skin. The whole notion of meeting this family is not entirely unrealistic as this is partly based on real life. There are some harrowing moments for the main characters and the heat and spook of the American countryside add to the film no end. Yes it will disturb some people but you get more violence in modern day films than you get here. But a cinema classic none the less.
