Advantages: Ultimate horror

Disadvantages: Looks a bitdated

The Texas Chainsaw massacre is one of the most important and effective horror films ever made. Supposedly based on a true story ( it isnt though it does make use of some facts from the Ed Gein murders) the film is the harrowing tale of five friends who go to visit a family grave. Along the way they stop and explore a seemingly deserted house only to be picked off one by one by a demented family of cannibals. Underneath the sheer terror, this is a darkly funny film parodying the nuclear family, family values and the economic state of America. Few films come close to its feeling of dread, even The Blair Witch Project and theres hardly a drop of blood to be seen. This is a far superior film in every way, with the benefit of a real plot and purpose.
