Advantages: A high impact workout with no annoying chat!

Disadvantages: No cool down

This DVD has received quite a lot of criticism which very nearly put me off buying it, I'm so glad it didn't though as I absolutely love it!

The DVD consists of a warm up and 8 dance routines, each lasting approximately 5 minutes. One big criticism is that there is no cool down section, I overcame this by doing the warm up again after my workout.

There is a break down section of each routine where Tracy talks you through the routine at a nice steady pace. Once you have the routine mastered you can move on to the workout section where you have the option of having Tracy facing you, or having her back to you as though you are in her class. She doesn't speak at all during the workout section, which is why you need to learn the routines first, as there are no verbal reminders as to what comes next!

Some of the reviews I read said you had to be a professional dancer to be able to do this workout. I am not a professional dancer, you do not need to be a professional dancer! You do need to be used to working out though, and will probably find it easier if you are used to doing exercise classes/learning routines. This is not a beginners DVD. It is not an easy workout, and it is very fast. I bought this DVD a year after having my first baby. In my pre-baby life I was a regular gym-goer, but post-baby finding time to get to the gym proved very difficult! I needed to find an alternative and this DVD is perfect. The workout consists of 8 routines, each lasting approximately 5 minutes, so you can make the workout any length you want, just stop and cool down when you've had enough/or run out of time/in my case - when the baby wakes up!!

You do need to devote time to learn the routines. I learnt them one at a time, only moving on to the next when I had mastered the last one. I found learning them fun, and a very gentle intro to working out again! Despite what other people have said I found her breakdown of the routines fantastic and thought her explanations were perfectly adequate. But, I have attended exercise classes for many years, so maybe this gave me an advantage.

Once I had learnt the first 3 I began doing the workout...and just doing these three was enough of a workout at first. (about 20 very energetic mins!) I have found that it is easier just to watch the breakdown a few times, then practice it at full speed in the workout section....I miss lots of steps the first few times, but who cares! In fact, there are some bits in the first few combinations that I haven't managed to master at the speed she goes (mainly some of the turns) so I just miss them out and do a jump or something instead. Even now I have learnt all the routines I rarely do the entire DVD in one session but choose 4 or 5 routines to give me a 30 minute workout. I vary which ones I choose which means I don't get bored of doing exactly the same routine time and time again.

The fact that she doesn't say ANYTHING during the workout is a HUGE bonus as far as I'm concerned and one of the main reasons I bought this DVD. The thing that has always put me off buying exercise dvd's in the past is having to listen to the same 'chat' time and time again. Plus, it's an extra challenge trying to remember it for yourself!

Tracy does her workout in a dance studio and one criticism I read a lot before buying the DVD was that you needed a lot of space. You don't! The space I workout in is approximately 7 feet square. Don't get me wrong, it would be better if I had more room! But it is not an absolute necessity, I do a lot of re-positioning to make sure I have enough room for the next moves, for example if Tracy does 3 jumping jacks on the spot then 5 steps to the right, I do 3 jumping jacks moving slightly left with each one so I have room to do the 5 steps to the right!

Despite me being a massive fan of this workout there are a couple of negatives. The warm-up could be better and there really should be a cool down section. It's hard to imagine why there isn't one! A lot of people have said there are lots of mistakes in the workout section. I do the workout with her facing away from me and so far (up to combo no. 5) there is one mistake (she misses out a few steps), it doesn't really bother me, BUT there really shouldn't be any mistakes! When you buy a product you expect it to be perfect, the routines she messed up on should have been re-shot.

There is no doubt that doing this DVD a few times a week will give you fantastic results! It is a fast, high impact workout that, as far as I'm concerned, is the next best thing to going to an exercise class at the gym.

This review is an updated version of a review I posted on Amazon a few years ago under the same name.

Summary: A fantastic high impact workout for those experienced exercisers who want to workout at home!
