Advantages: Obscure angles, Clever scripting, Funny

Disadvantages: None well no biggies

Despite the irony of the title "The Truman show" (obviously not a true man), this film is one of the best I've seen for a good while (other than Donnie Darko).

The prospect of the film is very good, very good. A guy named Truman has been born and raised in a giant set, a make believe world. The film is done much like the show itself, it shows Trumans discovery that everything isn't as real as he once thought it should be. Excellently shot with still camera's often shown at obscure angles (such techniques are used in flim noir). These shots are not just shown via the TV show, that is trying to capture the feel of a relatity TV show, but the TV's in which the public view the show also are used as a camera to show the audience's response to the event. Other footage is shown in the studio and uses normal camera work although it is often shown via a news broadcast.

In today's society the world is obsessed with their pop idols and Big Brothers and such points are conveyed in a movie perfectly. The Truman show is a hyped mega media machine, Truman merchandise is shown throughout the film and hundreds are watching it, despite the natural moral ethics of wheather this is right or wrong. Should he be trapped like this or should he know his true being, and if he was to try and escape what would the producer do to stop him?

An excellent film with a perfect musical score that is beautifully accompanied and well writen. The script equally show with the legendary line "In case I don't seeya good afternoon, good evening and good night". A classic for all the ages and extremley well acted, I'll never look at Jim Carey the same again. Brilliant film and deserves a rent at least, funny, clever and addictive viewing... much like the show itself.

Good review - I completely agree. I thought this film would be rubbish, as I'm not usually a Jim Carey fan - but I really liked this film!
