My name is Louise and I am a TwiHard! I first watched Twilight a long time after it was actually first released, I couldn't understand the hype but my friend nagged at me and finally I watched it and was totally engrossed. Luckily for me the next day we found a cinema with a showing of New Moon and I had to go and see it. I now have the DVD and this is what I will be reviewing.

The main characters in New Moon are pretty much the same as in Twilight:

Bella Swan: Bella is a clumsy teenage girl who moves to Forks to live with her father when her mum marries someone else and does a little travelling. Bella is played by Kristen Stewart.

Edward Cullen: Edward is a vampire and is totally handsome, engaging and charming. I wish he was a real person and as a result of his character my expectations of men are unrealistic! He is played by Robert Pattinson.

Jacob Black: Jacob is Bella's best friend but it is clear he has a soft spot for her as well. He lives out on the Indian reservation. In New Moon we learn Jacob is a Werewolf. He is played by Taylor Lautner.

The Cullen family: Besides Edward there is Carlisle who is the father figure, Esme the mother figure, Rosalie and Emmett who are lovers and Alice and Jasper who are also lovers. Carlisle and Esme pose as the adoptive parents of the other vampires to keep up the façade that they are just a regular family. The Cullen's class themselves as "vegetarian" as they only drink the blood of animals.

Victoria: Victoria is not a good vampire. In Twilight we see her boyfriend James destroyed by the Cullen's as he is attempting to kill Bella. In her fury Victoria wishes to kill Bella and steal Edwards love as he stole hers.

The Volturi: The Volturi are the closest thing to royalty that vampires have. They make the rules and will punish anyone who breaks them.

In Twilight Bella and Edward fall hopelessly in love despite all of Edwards best efforts to stay away from her. New Moon begins with Bella's 18th birthday. She doesn't want to celebrate the fact that she is getting older as she sees it as she is aging whilst Edward is staying youthful in appearance. She is desperate for Edward to change her to a vampire but he does not wish to destroy her soul. Even though Bella wishes for no fuss to be made on her birthday Alice decides to throw Bella a party. At the party everything is going well until Bella cuts herself on an envelope. The tiny drop of blood causes Jasper to want to attack her and as such Edward throws her out of the way. Bella lands on a glass table and there is then much more blood. Jasper is restrained and everything is ok.

The next day Edward isn't at school. When Bella arrives home he is waiting for her and they take a walk. You can tell that it is breaking his heart but he tells Bella he is leaving, and that it is over.

The next few months pass slowly for Bella and she goes completely into herself. Her dad wants to send her home and so she agrees to see her friends. It is when she is out with one of her friends that she realises that by doing reckless things she can see Edward. He appears to her as kind of a "ghost" type figure, warning her to be safe. This is all in Bella's mind but as she feels that is her only contact with him she decides to try crazy things.

In the drive to do reckless things Bella purchases two wrecked motorbikes. Her best friend Jacob is good with mechanics and so they begin to work on the bikes. It is while they are doing this that you really see the relationship between them blossom and I find it lovely to watch despite the fact that I am very much team Edward! It is clear Jacob loves Bella and whilst you can see Bella cares deeply for him too he just isn't Edward.

After a while Jacob stops calling Bella and there is no contact at all. She feels like she is beginning to sink again and so she goes over to his house and there he is looking totally different (and HOT!) with his long locks cut short, a tattoo and no shirt. He seems angry but cannot tell Bella what the problem is. She thinks he is in a gang and later confronts who she thinks is the leader, and hits one of the other boys. This is when we learn of the werewolves' existence and in my opinion it is the best action moment of the film. In a quest to protect Bella Jacob comes running from his house, jumps and turns to a werewolf and it is just a brilliant moment. I get real goose bumps every time I watch it!

The story continues and we learn that Jacob is a werewolf because Victoria is back though they don't know what she is after until Bella informs them she wants her. Jacob vows to protect her no matter what.

Bella is still looking for reckless things to do throughout the film and decides to go cliff diving. The result of this is a visit from Alice Cullen who has a gift which means she can see the future. She sees Bella jump and fears she is dead. Bella is overjoyed to see her but looks sad when she learns Edward is on his own. Edward learns of Bella's jump and also fears she is dead so he goes to the volturi to ask that they kill him. They refuse so he plans to expose himself to the non vampires so that the volturi will have no choice. Alice sees what Edward is planning and there begins a race against time for Bella and Alice to save him.

My second favourite part in New Moon is when Bella and Edward are reunited. You can see it is such a genuine love and it just makes me feel happy.

The film in general for me is great. There is the love story and then heart break which I think we can all sympathise with. You are feeling everything with Bella as she tries to get back on to her feet and in my case, praying that she would be reunited with Edward.

The DVD running time is approximately 127 minutes and fit for viewing by people age 12 or above. I wouldn't let people younger than this watch it as there are a few moments which whilst not scary would not be nice for young children to watch.

The DVD is packed full of extras too on the second disc. Things such as audio commentary, music videos and "becoming" certain characters are included on there but my personal favourite extra is the deleted scenes. As a fan of the Twilight Saga in general I have read all the books too and it is nice to watch scenes from the book which have not made it to the film and having an opinion on whether or not they should be in the film!

I really do adore this film and would recommend that people watch it! I cannot wait for eclipse.
