Synopsis *********** With corruption and greed sweeping across Chicago, as they are stuck in the midst of the prohibition gloom, not even the police seem adverse to a bribe at all, especially when the man pulling most of the strings is the ruthless gangster Al Capone (Robert de Niro). Desperate to bring law and order back to the streets of the city, a crack force of agents above corruption, labelled "The Untouchables", is banded together under the guidance of federal agent Elliot Ness (Kevin Costner). Along with old time cop Jim Malone (Sean Connery), new recruit George Stone (Andy Garcia) and nerdy accountant Oscar Wallace (Charles Martin ... Read the complete review

This has been as a classic for a long time but until recently I had yet to see it. Fortunately you can purchase this very cheaply and by the end of this review I will have outlined why it is a recommended purchase. The film is set in the city of chicago why crime, bribery and general corruption have become so rampant that they have become synonymous with the city. The mafia led by Capone have a stranglehold of all the major outlets either through ownership or intimidation and the police seem powerless to act against them. However most of this powerlessness is derived from a fear of standing up to an increasingly powerful and influential adversary and the the ... Read the complete review

In the 1930's prohibition existed in America it was at this time that gangsters started to supply illicit booze to anyone that wanted to it. In Chicago this was all controlled by the ruthless Al Capone. Capone had not only cops but also high ranking officials on his payroll. Chicago was corrupt including the police. A special task force was set up to bring Capone down, they were named the untouchables. The DVD ************* Directed by the brilliant Brian De Palma brings together Robert De Niro, Kevin Costner and Sean Connery. The untouchables ... Read the complete review

WHAT IS IT ABOUT: In 1930s USA, mafia moss Al Capone has control of a vast criminal empire. Hot on his heels comes Eliot Ness and his crew, police officers who will stop at nothing to put the big man behind bars. Robert De Niro and Kevin Costner star in this top notch crime thriller based on true events. IS IT ANY GOOD: The simple answer to the above heading is 'YES', it's very good. De Niro is on full form in this movie, and is completely transformed into a character that exudes all the brilliance of De Niro at his best. The performance is authentic, believable, and terrifying. When he cracks a head open with a baseball bat, you have no doubt the ... Read the complete review

For me this is as close to movie perfection as you can possibly get. Excellent cast, excellent story, excellent script, excellent score. Just excellent all round. The story follows Elliott Ness (Costner) as he tries to bring down the infamous Al Capone (Played brilliantly by Robert De Niro). Ness enlists the help of a group of gents to help bring them down, of which is Malone, played by Sean Connery in probably one of his best acting performances. But everything just comes together brilliantly in this movies as the music through the movie is spot on for each scene and really captures the time. I found myself getting emotionally involved in the story and I think the ... Read the complete review
