Advantages: One of the best films ever

Disadvantages: A little violent in places

The Untouchables has to be one of my all time favourite movies, and is definitely one of the few that I don't mind watching again and again (and again). Released in 1987 this film has stood the test of time and through an excellent script and clever directing by Brian de Palma it manages to evoke more tension, excitement and action than many modern CGI-filled efforts.

Set in prohibition era Chicago the film follows Elliot Ness (Costner) and his attempt to bring down the notorious Al Capone (De Niro). Ness is initially naive to the Chicago way of doing business, and comes up against corruption at every level of the society whose laws he's trying to uphold. But Ness gathers together a small band of trustworthy men (Sean Connery, Andy Garcis and Charles Martin Smith), who have more success in enforcing the prohibition law than the entire police force, and they soon become known as 'The Untouchables'.

Bringing Al Capone to justice proves to be a complicated and dangerous business; with many of the consequences not being for the squeamish or faint-hearted. The action is fast-paced and the acting is impeccable. This film has to be an essential for any DVD collection.

Summary: A superb film

A bit more about why you like it so much would make this more useful for me.
