Terri is a married woman and the mother of 4 headstrong girls. She has a good life right up to the point where her husband disappears. Terri works out that he has run off with his Swedish secretary and starts to deal with it with the help of drink! She gets a visit from neighbour Denny, a ex-baseball player, who in a way is pleased that husband has left as he has always liked her. Denny lives a different life to Terri and constantly drinks and smokes weed, the pair start to spend their days drinking much to the annoyance of Terri's girls. I like Kevin Costner. He's one of those handsome actors that has that homely screen charisma...a guy's guy as well as a middle-aged woman's dream squeeze. In fact I can't recall him doing a bad movie, regardless of the stick he got for the likes of the ambitious Waterworld and the misguided Postman. They were ok movies by an actor trying to appeal to his fading core audience demographic of the time. He was never an action hero and always the thinking woman's crumpet. The Upside of Anger is familiar Costner movie territory, the All American baseball star now burnt out and living off his name and royalties, perhaps the sequel to the excellent 'Love of the Game' ...
