The Usual Suspects has probably my favourite ending for a movie, up there with The Departed and Fight Club.

Released way back in 1995, it is still an unforgettable movie from Bryan Singer. I think the main reason I liked it so much, besides the genius plot, is Kevin Spacey. He is a consistently brilliant actor through his career. He doesn't make a movie with a questionable performance like Jackson's "Snake on a Plane" but maintains excellence and delivers perfectly in this. What is very clever is that Singer created a narrator for the movie by telling the sequence of events backwards, as Verbal (Spacey) tells it to Dave Kujan, the officer.

The five men directly involved in the plot are Dean Keaton (Gabriel Byrne), Michael McManus (Stephen Baldwin), Fred Fenster (Benicio Del Toro), Todd Hockney (Kevin Pollak) and Verbal (Kevin Spacey). There are also other characters but these are introduced through Verbal as he tells Kujan what happened after 27 people are found dead.

The plot can get confusing and you may have to watch it twice but you will want to anyway after the ending just to see how it all worked. The two Oscars, Best Supporting Actor for Kevin Spacey and Best Original Screenplay are more than deserved.

I also bought this again on Blu Ray and can tell you that the transfer is excellent. I would highly recommend picking it up on Blu.

Summary: The ending will blow you away.
