The general plot concerns a gang of car thieves, who force people to race, with their car as the prize and then cheat to win so that they get it 'legally'… The Wraith of the title is someone that the gang killed, and who has come back from the dead for revenge, which he exacts with the aid of a very special car – The Turbo Interceptor. It stars Charlie Sheen as The Wraith, Nick Cassevetes as The gang leader, Randy Quaid as the local police chief and Sherylin Fenn as the reluctant girlfriend of Nick Casevetes. The special effects in this film are nothing special, but the real interest is in the car races. The film has been released on Region 2 DVD and is quite a disappointment – the film is only presented in 4:3 ratio, although the picture quality is not bad and there are no extras apart from a picture gallery. The sound is also nothing to write home about, although it does have a great rock soundtrack featuring lumineries such as Motley Crue and Ozzy Osbourne. In conclusion, I actually enjoyed this film, I cant see how it got an 18 certificate, but it is worth watching if you want to while away an hour-and-a-half, just don’t expect too much.
