Advantages: Excellent portrayal of wrestling, Mickey Rourke

Disadvantages: None that bothered me

Being a big wrestling fan I was intrigued to see how this film dealt with its perception when targeting the mainstream. However I have to say that both the director and Mickey Rourke did a fantastic job.

The film is somewhat slow, but it is shot in the style of an over the shoulder documentrary, following Randy "The Ram" Robinson as he trudges round high school gyms to wrestle in front tiny crowds, goes to work in the local supermarket and trys to build a relationship with his estranged daughter.

The wrestling scenes are action packed and well choreographed and Rourke's performance is one which accurately portrays that of many of the fallen wrestling stars of the Eighties.

The ending was a disappointment to a few people I spoke to but I think it symbolised the hopelessness of Rourkes course and the fact that nobody
really cares about him.

This film is for all, not just wrestling fans.

Summary: This is a film for everyone
