The X Files, one of the defining science fiction programmes of my late teens, the series that nurtured my love of all things supernatural, is, on paper a strange mix. As we follow the lives and cases of two FBI agents as they delve into any case that can't be explained (or solved) by conventional means, we learn of a huge government conspiracy involving aliens, of all things. By using a minimum of special effects, and the maximum of creative filming, we are introduced to all manner of monsters some of which are actually human. The whole series is darkly atmospheric, often the only on-screen light comes from a pair of torches being flashed in a pitch black tunnel (silver ... Read the complete review

The X-Files season 2 has arrived on DVD and is presented much like the first in a nice box set containing all the episodes and some extras as well. The second series is really where the X-Files took off for me. The stories became more interesting and much more varied then the first series. And we even got the treat of a comedy episode with the Jim Rose Circus! This opinion is about the actual DVD and not the series though obviously the quality of the series does help the box set be more appealing! So what do we have for the second series? Well basically the packaging is pretty much the same as the first series. You get the episodes spread over ... Read the complete review

The X Files is an American TV show which follows two FBI agents' investigations into paranormal phenomena. It stars David Duchovney as Mulder and Gillian Anderson as Scully. Upon re-watching it, season one was pretty lame, but you expect that from a new show. Now the pressure is on to make season 2 a cracker! This DVD box-set contains 25 episodes on seven discs. Season two begins with the X Files having been closed down. I don't like this sort of plot technique - I mean, we KNOW they will start up again, as the show is on, so why mess with us? The abduction of Mulder's sister gets a bit of a going over in this season. I always found this ... Read the complete review

Like most second seasons of Television shows things get more interesting and established. This is the same for The X-Files, the paranoia and secret cover-ups are more fully explored while the rabbit hole widens. There's also more character development with Agent Skinner coming into the fold as well as more smoking from The Smoking Man. While the first season really pulled people in with it's sci-fi tales of strange, this season really starts asking the questions about what secrets do the government hide ? X-Files season 2 is made up of 25 episodes spanning 7 discs and totalling 1100 minutes of viewing pleasure so you're getting your moneys worth. ... Read the complete review

Another season of X-Files bites the dust and yet again I can report another great season. PLOT I felt this season really glues Mulder and Scully’s bond. For the first few episodes we see Mulder fall apart for the first time after the X-Files get shut down and with the prospect of loosing Scully, she’s gone and no-one not even Mulder can get her back. Its an emotional struggle for him coping with her disappearance and then her return and then the fact she’s probably not going to make it. He also has to struggle with the return of his abducted sister later on, but something is strange is that really her? Scully’s not faring to well either after ... Read the complete review
