Time Bandits is the 1981 film brought to us by members of the Monty Python team. Written by Michael Palin and Terry Gilliam, and directed by Gilliam himself, it is a comedy of Monty Python-like proportions. The Plot Six crazy dwarves have stolen a map containing holes in space and time scattered across the universe. Kidnapping an 11-year-old boy along the way, they have time travelled all over the place, watched closely by the Evil Genius, who will stop at nothing to obtain the map for his own evil purposes. The Cast and Performances This film is famous for its extras. Among the six dwarves, the most famous is probably Kenny ... Read the complete review

Time Bandits is a great fantasy film with a host of famous faces. It is a film of many adventures and some great comedy, released in 1981; this film never loses its touch and is an firm favourite on our family. The story is of 6 cheeky and crazy dwarves, who have stolen a precious map that shows a series of time holes scattered throughout time and across the universe. They use the map to travel through time to steal from the rich and keep their loot for themselves, but on their travels they come across a young boy who goes with them on their travels. While at the same time, an evil genius is watching them, leading them to him, luring them with the belief ... Read the complete review

Some films leave an indelible mark on you whilst others just fade away. With a hint of nostalgia and a certain childish introspection, I recently caught the fantasy film "Time Bandits" released in 1981 and found myself spinning back into an era that had entered a science fiction phase still a whirl post "Star Wars" and about to take a tangential leap towards Ridley Scott's "Blade Runner". Kevin (Craig Warnock) does the same thing every night; eats his tea, enquires about his (mainly history) homework and gets ignored by his parents. Busy watching the same gameshow "Your Money or Your Life" daily, Kevin's mom and dad ... Read the complete review

TIME BANDITS (1981) FILM ONLY REVIEW As we have just celebrated 40 years of the wonderful Monty Python, I thought that I would review a film that has connections with the Python gang. Time Bandits was directed by Python star Terry Gilliam, who wrote the screenplay with fellow Monty Python colleague Michael Palin and also had appearances from John Cleese and Michael Palin. The film is one of the most famous of more than 30 films produced by Handmade Films, the London-based independent company backed in part by former Beatle George Harrison. For me this was one of the classic fanmtasy films of the 80's - it is part fairy ... Read the complete review

The Time Bandits. ************** ~Introduction~ Please don't laugh but this was the first 'Video' I ever saw and so holds a special fondness for me. The movie actually comes from a script originally co written by Michael Palin and Terry Gilliam. Terry Gilliam was to follow this film up with equally whimsical fantasies such as Brazil and The Adventures of Baron Munchausen. ~Synopsis~ Kevin is a bored young lad with overbearing parents until one night a group of thieving dwarves magically appear in his bedroom. They have stolen a map which shows all the holes in time, the creation of everything being a rush job, left gap ... Read the complete review
