Advantages: good cast, great comedy

Disadvantages: ending not as good as I would have hoped, no special features

Time Bandits is a great fantasy film with a host of famous faces. It is a film of many adventures and some great comedy, released in 1981; this film never loses its touch and is an firm favourite on our family.

The story is of 6 cheeky and crazy dwarves, who have stolen a precious map that shows a series of time holes scattered throughout time and across the universe. They use the map to travel through time to steal from the rich and keep their loot for themselves, but on their travels they come across a young boy who goes with them on their travels. While at the same time, an evil genius is watching them, leading them to him, luring them with the belief of an almighty powerful object that will be waiting for them at their destination. All of this is so he can get hold of the map to allow him to take over the world and change it to his evil ways.

Unfortunately the DVD that I have does not have any special features; therefore I am unable to comment on these.

The film is produced and directed by Terry Gilliam, screenplay by Michael Palin and Terry Gilliam. The soundtrack music consists of George Harrison, who is also an executive producer along with Denis O'Brian.

This movie has an interesting cast, including John Cleese, Sean Connery, Shelley Duvall, Katherine Helmond, Ian Holm, Michael Palin, Ralph Richardson, Peter Vaughan and David Warner.

~~~ Overall ~~~

This is a brilliant fantasy film for the whole family. It has a rating of PG, so it suitable for all ages although Parental Guidance may be required for younger children.

I love this film and I hope that you do too.
