Advantages: Great group of actors

Disadvantages: None

To really appreciate this movie all you need is to like a good comedy with a touch of romance added. Although this movie centers around golf, you don't need to like the game to like the movie. As a matter of fact, I really detest golf but absolutely love this movie. Tin Cup takes a really great cast of actors and gives you the type of comedy that you can relate to instead of over the top situations or juvenile humor that is often times not funny to everyone. If you don't enjoy this movie then comedies might not be your bag.

Roy Mcavoy or Tin Cup, played by Kevin Costner, is a washed up pro golfer who is running a fairly run down driving range who meets Molly Griswold (Rene Russo) when she comes in for golf lessons and is immediately smitten. As it turn out, Molly is the girlfriend of Roy's old college golf partner David Simms (Don Johnson ) now a successful golf pro. There seems to be some old animosity still between them and the competition between them begins for both the girl and the golf.

Roy decides to enter the US Open and beat David to impress Molly. As it turns out Molly is a psychologist and Roy obtains her services in return for his own so he can keep his head straight for the qualifications. It seems that Roy has a problem and has the need to "rise to the challenge" at every challenge unfortunately. He seems to be unable to play it safe no matter what the circumstances even when he doesn't need to take the chance.

All kinds of funny circumstances arise to make you laugh with the antics between these two and with the appearance of Cheech Marin as "Romeo", Roy's caddy, the movie is complete. I am a fan of Kevin Costner and although I don't normally associate him with comedy I feel that he plays this role perfectly. This movie portrays exactly the type of comedy that I enjoy and it delivers in full. Even though this is an older movie from 1996 if you haven't seen it yet I suggest that you do.

Summary: A wonderful comedy with a dash of romance
