My daughter loves to catch Tom and Jerry on Boomerang when shes at her cousins house, then follows the inevitable "mummy why cant we have it at our house."
We only have the medium cable package and Boomerang isn't a channel that we receive so my next option was a dvd.
Thats when I came cross this little bargain on amazon for the cheap price of £3.98. There are actually 6 volumes available to buy which all RRP at £12.99 but can all be bought for around the £4 mark if you shop around.
Tom and Jerry Tales Volume One runs for 87 minutes. It was released in May 2007, the first of six available episodes / dvds to buy. It is a 'U' certificate which is suitable for all but warns that it contains very mild comic violence. It contains 12 short episodes.
- Octo Suave
- Beach Bully Bingo
- Treasure map scrap
- Fire Breathing Tomcat
- Medieval Menace
- The Itch
- Digital Dilemma
- Hi Robot
- Tomcat Jetpack
- Piranha be loved
- Spook HOuse Mouse
- Abracadum
These episodes are amongst the first new episodes made in over 30 years. They are short animated cartoons originally made for the new TV series so there are no 'unseen' adventures on here but who needs new adventures when we're watching this most succesful cat and mouse duo ever.
In fact this year marks the 70th anniversary of the first cartoon released which originally featured a cat named Jasper and an un-named mouse.
70 years on and adults and children alike are still enjoying their mischeivious antics.
These new short cartoons appeal to todays children as they have been modernised to include todays gadgets that are of everyday use to youngsters these days, for example mobile phones and computers yet they still capture all the all the mouse-cat mayhem that we all loved as youngsters. Indeed I play it for my daughter but find myself sitting and watching it through too, and best of all there are no adverts to sit through!
Personally, although this is just something perhaps that comes with age, I find these new cartoons less violent albeit we all know that cats have 9 lives!
Summary: Let Tom and Jerry do what they know best
