Tomcats is a romantic comedy film that was released in 2001. It is rated 15 due to strong language and sexual content and it is 91 minutes long.
Plot
The film starts off showing us a flashback of a group of friends at a wedding. When each one states that they will always remain single, the group of friends make a bet to see who will be the last standing bachelor. Everyone agrees to put $1000 into a savings account and let it build up over time and who ever is the last single man, he will get the whole amount.
7 years later and Steve is getting married to Tricia, the woman of his dreams in Las Vegas. While having a bit of a gamble, Michael sees a very attractive red head but is informed that she only goes for the high rollers. When Michael starts betting big, Tricia sends Steve in to stop him but to no avail. Michael ends up owing the casino $51,000 and the owner threatens to kill him if he doesn't pay up. He knows that the only way to get the money, is to win the bet, but his friend Kyle, the other single guy, is quite happy being single and is no where close to getting married.
While the casino starts taking all of his possessions in order to repay the debt, Michael sets about to find Kyle a wife, and fast. He remembers that at the first wedding, Kyle slept with a girl who he thought could be 'the one' but as things progress, everything gets extremely complicated.

My Opinion
So many people I know haven't seen this film or even heard of it but the guy I lived with in Canada introduced me to it and I'm so glad he did.
One of the good things I liked about this film was the fact that it doesn't start off slow. Normally, even with a comedy, we get a bit of a build up first but this one cuts right to the chase. Tomcats has a nice pace the whole way through and I didn't feel bored at any point.
Jerry O'Connell plays the lead male, Michael but he didn't amaze me. While he is cute and funny at times, the only thing that I thought he was really good at was playing dumb and a bit clueless. He did make me giggle but the role could have probably been done better.
Jamie Pressly is by far the best thing about this film and her character Tricia is great. I've loved her in everything I've ever seen her in and she seems to nail every single funny line. I loved watching Tricia's husband, Steve; get really paranoid about what she gets up to while he isn't around.
The ending is extremely predictable but it has enough comedy and sweetness to forgive this. Tomcats will appeal to both sexes due to the cast and nature of the plot. If you haven't seen this before, give it a try, it's only £4 on Amazon at the minute.
Summary: Great comedy from the early 90's
