Top gun was the film that made Tom Cruise famous, as he plays a young pilot who is sent to the US Navy’s TopGun fighter weapons school. This film takes a look at the danger and excitement that awaits every pilot at TopGun.

Tom cruise plays Maverick Mitchell a daring young flier who’s out to become the best, co-staring with Tom Cruise is Kelly McGillis who is a civilian instructor who teaches Maverick a few things you can’t learn in the classroom and Val Kilmer plays the part of Iceman a fellow pilot competing against Maverick.

Part of the story shows the bond that exists between the pilot and his co-pilot and when something goes wrong the effect it has on team when the bond is broken, which is very heart wrenching and a tear may be shed.

This film has a combination of heart-pounding action, music and incredible aerial photography.

The DVD is rated at 15, 105mins in length and is in wide screen format, the only downside to this DVD is the lack of any extra features but this should not distract anyone from buying this DVD as it is superb and is the sort of film that can be watched over and over again.
