I started watching Tracy Beaker as a child. It began when I was 8 in 2002 and until this very day I still watch it and I can't wait to see the next episode of the Dumping Ground on Friday.
This DVD contains every episode from The Story of Tracy Beaker Series 1 - 5. It only costs around £15 on amazon and it is well worth the money.
Tracy Beaker may have been on for ten years now but it has stood the test of time and is still just as popular now as it was then. It is based on the book of the same name by Jaqueline Wilson (I love her books and still read them as an adult.)
It follows the lives of children in care at Elm Tree House (nicknamed the Dumping Ground) with the main character being Tracy Beaker. Tracy Beaker is a trouble maker and whenever she gets a foster home she always ends up back where she started, until she meets Cam. She originally comes to help the children write an article on living in care but Tracy thought she looked like a fantastic foster mum so she set her sights on living with her. She didn't stop until it happened.
Tracy was left by her mum as a child so she always makes up stories about her being a movie star. The other care kids don't believe her but Tracy convinces herself she will be back to get her one day.
There have been many characters in and out of the dumping ground. They include:
Tracy Beaker (Dani Harmer): Tracy is a tomboy and has been in and out of care ever since her mum abandoned her. She has a vivid imagination and loves to pull pranks on the other children.
Justine Littlewood (Montanna Thompson): When Tracy returned to the dumping ground Justine had her old room. Justine then became her worst enemy. Justine's lives in the dumping ground whilst her dad visits occasionally but she doesn't like his wife so she doesn't live with him.
Louise Goven (Chelsie Padley): Louise is best friends with Justine but was previously best friends with Tracy. Tracy gets upset and Louise forgets about her because of her new best friend. Louise usually likes to keep peace.
Mike: the care worker who is much like a father to most of them.
Elaine the Pain: the social worker that the children dislike and love to pull pranks on.
Cam: the person Tracy most wants to foster her.
Tracy Beaker is a brilliant TV series that I will continue to watch however old I get. I hope more children will appreciate it in years to come.
