Samir Horn is an ex-US Army officer and also used to work for US Special Forces too, so it's a surprise when he appears to be linked with a terrorist group intent on blowing up bombs across America in revenge for their people. FBI Agent Roy Clayton is investigating the suspected terrorist group, and together with his colleague Max Archer, the pair have to put together the pieces and work out how Samir is involved. Is he really turning against his country and being led by his religion? Will Omar be able to trust Samir fully when he shows signs of getting cold feet? Since watching Body of Lies, both my fiance and I have been into somewhat grittier films than we ... Read the complete review

Starring Guy Pearce and Don Cheadle Genre...The War on Terror Suited to....war film fans Certificate -13? Traitor is the latest in a long line of offerings in the post 911, "War on Terror" genre, these movies coming thick and fast now like the body bags piling up out there in the desert to be loaded on to C140s in our vulgar pursuit of cheap oil and gas. But the problem is the bulk of these films are American made and so don't really tackle the real reasons for the wars, the US government and media outlets being particularly guilty for their collusion in the perpetuation of the War on Terror, that complicity never really tackled in ... note: also appears in part on Flixster and The Student Room Political thrillers are well and truly a dime a dozen, but every so often, one does come along that's a little more focused and cleverer than the rest. Traitor isn't without its narrative flaws, but it's very well performed, and features some knockout performances from its stellar cast, as well as an informed espionage plot with more than its share to speak about the Middle Eastern conflict. The film's protagonist is Samir Horn (Don Cheadle), an Arabic-speaking Sudanese-American, who also happens to be a devout Muslim. He appears to be an arms dealer of sorts, but he is caught dealing in ... Read the complete review

Usually, attempts to make a film concerning a combination of terrorism and religion end up with exaggeration that entertains the western world and offends others. Traitor does enough to maintain a bit more distance from the 'blame', and while it still depicts a predominantly Muslim collective as the villains, it does deal with issues with a certain sense of class, and goes so far to emphasis western influence and corruption as a major factor. We open with Samir Horn, as a child, witnessing his father being blown up in a terrorist car explosion. Fast forward and the now adult Samir (Don Cheadle) is entering into a terrorist deal to arm extremists with Semtex. ... Read the complete review

Rating:
Traitor is a gripping thriller that is well worth seeing, it might no boast a top ranking cast of Hollywood celebrities, Guy Parce and Jeff Daniels were the two main names that I recognised but that does not detract from the overall quality of this terrorist based action film. Don Cheadle stars as Samir who as a child witnessed his father being killed by a car bomb andin adult life is seen to be infiltrating his way into a terrorist cell through a deal to supply them with explosives. Looking to also break up any terrorist threats are FBI agents Clayton and Archer played by Pearce and Neal McDonough respectively and soon Samir is on their radar and what unfolds ...
