Transformers, a cartoon from Japan about battling robots with the ability to "transform" into vehicles to disguise their true nature, first appeared on UK screens way back in 1985. It was virtually an overnight success and spawned a massive merchandising business - kids all over the country wanted to own their own miniature versions of the robots which could transform into cars, trucks and aircraft. Like all such trends, eventually children grew tired of the toys, and of the show, and moved on to the next best thing. Things went quiet until Steven Speilberg, as Executive Director, and acclaimed Director Michael Mann decided to resurrect the concept ... Read the complete review

Having already seen this movie at the cinema, I knew I was in for an absolute treat when I bought this DVD, but what I wasn't prepared for was the jaw dropping quality of the high definition action. I have seen many a Blu-Ray movie now and been left a little underwhelmed by the whole thing, but this finally made the technology sink in for me. The effects are naturally great in this action packed movie but when you see it all as sharp and vibrant as it is in this version you begin to wonder how you ever managed without it. The film plot itself revolves around the battle between good and evil in the form of the Transformers. This sees the good guys the Autobots ... Read the complete review

Transformers is definitely on the list of must-have Blu-Rays. Even though it's based on a kids cartoon series, the movie is fantastic and shouldn't put you off. The main plot is a brilliantly played Sam (LaBeuof) wanting his first car, which turns out to be a Camaro... and a Transformer, an Autobot to be precise. Shia is one of my favourite actors and always delivers. Anyway, these Autobots are in a war against the Decepticons which virtually determines the fate of Earth and even the Universe. The Decepticons want an object that holds supreme power, whilist the Autobots know what could happen with this in the wrong hands and want to destroy it. It's a good vs ... Read the complete review

When I was a kid I loved Transformers. I had all the toys, Optimus Prime, Megatron, Soundwave, Ultra Magnus and so on. I loved the "Generation One" characters (as fans call them) and I was a big fan of the 1987 animated movie. When I learned that a live action movie was being made I was very much excited. I had seen what could be done animation wise from that rather fantastic Citreon car advert. So I had big dreams of seeing the Generation One characters properly realised on screen. Oh how dissapointed I was. Transformers is dissapointing primarily because it just borrows a few names and Optimus Prime looks a little bit like he used to. ... Read the complete review

Most Professional film critics dubbed transformers as a 'let down' before the release of the movie. However, for one I was not discouraged to buy the film on blu-ray and when received and watched repeatedly I was far from disappointed. The blu-ray delivers awesome sound quality and the sharpest moving images I have ever seen on a TV screen. Simply amazing. The sci-fi action thriller was most certainly a hit with all my mates and as far as I am aware did not disappoint many. The auto-bots (i.e. optimus prime) were flawlessly animated and voiced over very well, delivering thrilling auto-bot duels which take place in the city and destroy a good majority of it. All of ...
