Well worth two hours 'TV time' for the kids (Transformers (Blu-ray))

Advantages: Simple theme, simple plot, good battle scenes

Again, whilst film reviews tend to focus on the plot of the film and how much us grown-up reviewers enjoyed the movie, this review is written from the perspective of a father of three children all aged seven, five and three. As a dad, I try to be selective about the amount of time my kids spend in front of a television, but I can say without doubt that Transformers is well worth a couple of hours 'TV time' particularly if your children are fans of the science-fiction/fantasy genre.
The plot is nice and simple and action scenes/battles (a favourite for my three boys) are interspersed throughout, culminating in the usual smash-up that is common in this type of films. The general theme of selfless good vs. selfish evil that seems to underpin Transformers (see the Marvel comics for a good example) is present here and provides a useful basis for understanding for young children (my three year old had no problem 'getting it').

Summary: All three of my children loved it
