Advantages: Action packed.
Disadvantages: Weak storyline.
I am not a huge action movie fan, but I go and see them anyway (because I am a good girlfriend!!) so please bear in mind when you read this that I am not an action junky.
Like the majority of the population I saw the first transformers. It had a great balance of humour, light entertainment, and a bit of action. There seemed to be something for everyone and I was hoping for the same sort of format from the second one. I was however very dissapointed.
This film starts where the second one left off. Sam is getting ready to go off to University and Mikaella works in the garage. They are hoping for a peaceful life, but they don't know that the Transformers are planning on dragging them into their next Orthobots Vs Decepticons war, another battle over a missing energy source, nothing original there.
There is plenty of action, and I happen to think the action budget was far too big. There are big explosions and fights all over the place, seemingly just for the sake of it and not even to fit in with the storyline.
The comedy at times seemed very misplaced and again, didn't particularly fit in. Sams Mum gets high when dropping him off at college, and acts very embarrassing. This was definitely not an original joke. On the plus side, for the guys, Megan Fox is over exposed all over the place and the cinema loved it! I didn't feel like she represented women well as she spent the whole film begging for Sam to tell her he loved her.
Overall the film was reasonable. The storyline was weak but the action was packed in and I'm convinced between that and Megan Fox it will keep the male fans very happy. Please remember to take plenty of refreshments, this film is a whopping 2.5 hours long!
Summary: Go for the action, but make sure you are comfortable, it is 2.5 hours long!
