Plot
To begin with, we get a lovely story about the background of the Transformers. Originally, they were all good guys and on the same team and lived according to certain rules. They travelled the universe, looking for things to drain energy from in order to stay alive and they would never drain anywhere that had forms of life. One of the robots didn't really care for this rule though and decided that Earth should be taken for its energy, regardless of the human life inhabiting it. This robot was the original Decepticon and known as The Fallen.
In order to keep Earth safe, the Primes decide to keep the key to the machine that drains all of the energy safe and sacrifice themselves for the greater good.
Sam Witwicky and Mikaela Banes are still going strong after 2 years but a spanner is about to be thrown in the works. Sam is heading off to the East Coast for college and the pair are wondering how they are going to make things work. While he is packing, part of the all spark that destroyed Megatron, falls out of Sam's pocket and burns a hole through his whole house, and also burns some alien images into his mind. Sam ends up having some mental break downs because he cant get these images out of his head. The Decepticons realise that this information will be extremely useful to them and they set out to 'pick' his brain but luckily, some old friends turn up just in time.

My Opinion
Just like the first film, Revenge of the fallen starts with a voice over by Optimus Prime but was something that I really liked about these films. This way of beginning a film sets the scene really well and gives us a peak into what will happen, without giving too much away.
Josh Duhamel and Tyrese Gibson are back and are now part of a secret team called NEST, who work alongside the auto bots. Both actors were fabulous in the first film and two of my favourite characters. The bad thing is though, that they didn't really get much screen time this time around and didn't really make an impact until about an hour and a half into the film. I would have liked to have seen them be a bigger part of the story but they were still fantastic for the time that they did get.
The mix between humans and auto bots as a team was fantastic to watch and made the action scenes much more elaborate and entertaining. This aspect gave the film a different feel compared to the average war/ action film. Revenge of the fallen certainly doesn't mess around when it comes to the action scenes and within the first 10 minutes, we get to see some amazing fighting sequences between the Transformers.
At the same time, the film doesn't wait long at all before putting a scantily clad Megan Fox back on our screens and drives up the sex appeal. At least Duhamel and Gibson make up for the fact that she walks around in next to nothing during the beginning of the film. I didn't really like her in the first film but I thought she was a lot better in this one. She wasn't even nearly as annoying as before and I thought she brought a lot of passion and determination to the role of Mikaela.
The relationship between Sam and Mikaela was really fun to watch again and it was interesting to watch how they coped when Sam left for college. I would have liked to have seen this go on for a bit longer but then it would have made the film extremely long. As the couple of the film, I was routing for them to make it but I still cant help feeling that Mikaela is too good for him and not a very believable relationship.
Although I liked the film and the story, I didn't enjoy it quite as much as the first film. The comedy and one liners in Transformers were hilarious but this is what let the sequel down in my eyes. The comedy was a bit lame and it seemed like the writers were trying a bit too hard. The Twins are supposed to provide much of the comedy but I didn't like them at all, but that mainly comes from their voices which I found to be too real sounding compared to the other Transformers.
Some of the new robots were absolutely fantastic but some of them were pathetic. I loved Devastator and I thought the idea behind him was fantastic. Devastator was extremely impressive and he reminded me a bit of the Power Rangers when they all group together to make the mega ranger...or whatever he was called. It was nice to see some girl robots this time around which will make the film appear more towards the female audience.
I know there are plans for a third film but I'm wondering how long the Transformers series can last before it gets boring. Will it be an amazing trilogy or will it go on for ages like the Saw films?
Summary: Not quite as good as the first film
