Advantages: cgi

Disadvantages: too much action not enough substance

OK, I saw the first Transformers and found it quite entertaining. The cgi was great - when I heard the sequel was already going to come out I got slightly worried as it seemed too quick. I guess I was right as the Revenge of the Fallen is not as good as the first film.

Yes it has a lot more cgi and relentless action but that is kind of its weak point too - the story is just not as engaging as the first which seemed more thoughtfully put together (even for a film like this).

In the sequel, the director, Bay just thinks lets pile on the robot fights and no one will realise that there is very little substance. But that's not what I expect from a movie today - I would rather they waited a year extra and really considered the films plot more.

The characters seemed under used (the story line of Shia and Megan just seemed odd) and even the action makes very little sense - you just seem bombarded at times (even though it was a nice addition to have some of the film take place in Egypt).

Overall disappointing and I hope Transformers 3 is a lot better although at this stage I probably won't even be bothered to see it after how this film came out.

Summary: watch if you like cgi robot fights
