Advantages: .... the computer graphics?? Disadvantages: EVERYTHING ELSE With approximately a 200-million dollar budget, you think Michael Bay idiotically thinks that he can do anything. The one thing he cannot to however, is to make a DECENT action film. I'm not even expecting a masterpiece cinema. Just a fun-filled, action-packed, exciting film that has a lot of cool robots and probably not much else. Did he do that? Not really. The 150 minutes this film took to finish must have been one of the most painful moments I have ever spent in the cinema. The budget could have been slashed by half, actually the same thing goes to the running time of the film, and the film itself could have been twice as good. So where did everything go wrong? The cast is pretty good: actually, just Shia LaBeouf since Megan Fox can get seriously irritating... The main problem starts with the script. No matter how good the actors are, if the solid basis of the film, the script, just pretty shite, there's not a lot anyone can do about it. This is exactly what happens in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. The plot is overly far-fetched and complicated, whilst some of the ridiculously cheesy lines seem to have been written by a 10-year-old. Another massive problem this film has is the fact that the action scenes are simply not exhilarating nor are they at all engaging. There's so much stuff happening on the screen at the same time that before you even try to enjoy any of them, you start becoming incredibly dizzy and quickly bored by the sheer scale of the big, mechanic mess. The jokes the writers tried to include into the script are childish at best and the lame humour is one of the main factors that makes this into a complete failure as a movie. The level of noise, (I'm not even going to dignify it by calling it soundtrack or music) is simply inappropriate, painful, and unnecessary. Still, this has managed to earn over 800 million dollars worldwide at the boxoffice alone. So there will most certainly be a sequel coming. Hopefully the next one won't be as shallow, narrow-minded, dumb and childish like this one. Summary: A poor, disappointing sequel from a franchise that should have delivered so much more |
