Advantages: Great designs, good wholesome violent fun.

Disadvantages: "Dare To Be Stupid" by Weird Al Yankovich

Transformers The Movie's video billing as "The ultimate animated motion picture" might be as realistic as a twenty-foot tall robot turning into a pistol, but I still love it. (Be warned... my opinion, heavily dosed with nostalgia, is probably useless for people new to the 'robots in disguise'.)

The story is as good as it needs to be: (deep voice) It is the year 2005 and the heroic Autobots are planning an invasion of their home planet Cybertron to liberate it from the occupying forces of the evil Decepticons... blah, blah, blah... Basically the goodie robots get thrown around planets and are forced to shoot seven shades out of everything they meet. As "the official movie TM" the scale is much grander than the television series, with a star-eating robot-planet replacing a disgruntled mayor as "the ultimate force of evil".

At the ripe-old-age of 19, I'm starting to understand the "they don't make 'em like they used to" concept. Though the cartoons were thinly veiled toy commercials, the robots' designs are miles better than Pokemon and 'Toy[s 'R' Us] Story' and made really fun toys. I only hope that our generations will pass treasures like this on to our kids *sniff*...
