A long time ago, on the faraway planet of Cybertron, a war was being waged between the Autobots, led by the wise Optimus Prime, and the devious Decepticons, commanded by the dreaded Megatron, for control over the Allspark - a mystical talisman that would grant unlimited power to whoever possessed it. The Autobots managed to smuggle the Allspark off the planet, but Megatron blasted off in search of it. He eventually tracked it to 1850's Earth, but his reckless desire for power sent him right into the Arctic Ocean, and the sheer cold forced him into a paralyzed state. When his body was later discovered and momentarily activated by Captain Archibald Witwicky, Megatron used the last of his energy to send a transmission to Cybertron.

Over a century later, fast-talking Sam, who is also an adept of online auctions, has just managed to make enough money to buy himself a used car (with the help of his father). Thrilled, he accompanies his father to the used car dealer, and falls for a rusted yellow Camaro. What Sam doesn't know is that the sweet little car is, in actual fact, an Autobot named Bumblebee who has been sent to earth in order to guard Sam from the evil Decepticons who are presently on Earth and attempting to find the Allspark. With the help of feisty Mikaela, Sam tries to help the Autobots find the Allspark before the Decepticons do.

'Transformers' is, without a doubt, one of the best action-adventure Sci-Fi's I have seen this year. The storyline is straightforward and simplistic, however, there is nothing simplistic about the dialogue, which is incredibly clever and funny, and the extraordinary special-effects that simply fascinate and amaze... watching this movie is like being on a speeding train that's lost its conductor! It is simply spectacular - breathtaking, and so much fun to watch that you want to watch it over and over again! This is one of those rare movies that is actually worth buying.

Yes, this is a movie about robots capable of turning themselves into cars, trucks, planes and whatever other piece of machinery they fancy - and yes, once again, the entire concept sounds somewhat childish and takes us back to earlier days when we all, at some point or another, used to play with Transformers - but hey, those were the good days, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with being 12 again!

I don't know how the writers and the director managed it, but the robots are so incredibly realistic, so extraordinarily likeable and funny, that they simply take over the movie and seem to be more 'alive' than many of the human characters. I have to admit that, although I have outgrown the toy Transformers, I wouldn't mind owning a Bumblebee or an Optimus Prime of my own! Sounds childish? Very... but hey, who cares... I loved this movie, loved the robots, the action, the incredible visual effects, and wouldn't pass up the chance to see it again

Summary: Great Sci-Fi... packed with action and extremely amusing.
