... has been making a big name for himself in French cinema with this his first foray into Hollywood. He stays true to the formula devised in the previous Transporter films with loud explosions and fast paced action that make this series so good. The special effects all work particularly well from the explosions to some very clever driving scenes. Fans of the series will also be pleased to know that the fight scene's follow the normal route as well with the bad guys queuing up politely to fight Martin. Of course ...more

Crowned Review Transporter 3 (DVD): Statham returns! (689 words)
by - written on 05/05/09 (Very useful, 44 readings)
Rating:

Note: originally written for my film review website, ShaunMunro.co.uk, thanks! ~~~ The term "MTV-style" has by now become a well-worn cliché, although Transporter 3 may be an instance whereby the term's application is best-suited. Whilst such a quick-fire editing style may befit many a hyper-kinetic action film, it is much to the foil of the latest Transporter installment (and many a member of the action crowd), in which helmer Oliver Megaton fatally misuses his cutting tools. Transporter 3 does well to open with a flashy car chase, yet Megaton insists on intercutting between this and series protagonist Frank Martin (Jason ...  Read the complete review

Crowned Review T3: Judgement Day! (1097 words)
by - written on 25/04/09 (Very useful, 115 readings)
Rating:

The 'Stath' is back for his third Transporter instalment, now a surprise franchise hit, meaning he will have to keep making them, the loveable rogue really at home in the tongue-in-cheek action genre. It's not your usual 'shoot-em-up' either, very Eurotrash and cheesy, all the villains have sub-machine guns and pony tails, the love interest plainly pretty and from obscure Eastern Europe. The film actually topped the US Billboard charts because the Americans enjoyed the quirky nature of the settings and cast on the rather unexpected locations for an action movie on the French Riviera, coated with its cheesy Europop soundtrack. I can't recall any other movie having a ...  Read the complete review

Crowned Review Transporter 3 (DVD): To Be Frank - It's Rubbish (941 words)
by - written on 30/05/09 (Very useful, 107 readings)
Rating:

A review of just the film, Transporter 3 was produced in 2008 and released on region 2 DVD in April 2009. When a surprise lands in driver-for-hire Frank Martin's living room, he finds himself obliged to take on a contract from a shadowy American businessman. Frank must escort an unknown cargo to an unknown destination, accompanied only by a girl he knows nothing about. To make matters worse, his new employer fits a bracelet to his wrist that will explode if Frank moves further than a certain distance from the vehicle. Certain that his new employer will kill both him and his new companion when the cargo is delivered, Frank must try and outwit his employer ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review This Time, The Rules Are The Same. Except one (773 words)
by - written on 18/10/09 (Very useful, 49 readings)
Rating:

When a car bursts through the side of his house it seems that once again Frank Martin is about to get involved in something he'd really rather not. Having retired from the transporting game Martin finds himself at the mercy of a maniac with a gun threatening to kill him if he doesn't deliver the Ukrainian environment minister's daughter from Marseilles to Odessa on the Black Sea. Along the way he has to break all of his old rules in order to keep himself and the girl he seems to have had forced along as a passenger. This is the third film in the transporter series and sees Jason Statham return to a role that it would seem he was born to play. I'd thoroughly ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Transporter 3 (DVD): More action from the smokin' hot Jason Statham...cool yourse ... (862 words)

Rating:

Back when I first watched the original Transporter movie, never could I have imagined that it would spawn not just one but TWO sequels. I mean, hell yeah- the first film was much better than I had thought it might be and yeah, The Stathe was much better in the lead role than I had expected him to be but surely there was nowhere else for the character to go? How wrong could I be- because where there's a reasonably successful action movie, there always has to be a sequel. I mean, everybody loves sequels don't they? Transporter 2 wasn't half bad as it turns out and those who have read my review will know I was more than just a little bit attracted to Statham's ...  Read the complete review
