Tremors 2 - Aftershocks (DVD) ... ... / DVD released 30 October, 2000 at Universal Pictures UK / Features of the DVD: PAL / When a remote Mexican oilfield comes down with a nasty case of Graboids (for the uninitiated: giant carnivorous worms with tunnelling abilities that put Bugs Bunny to shame), it is up to those veteran monster exterminators Burt and Earl to save the day--and accumulate some much-needed payola in the process. But this time, the slimy critters may have a few new tricks up their ... um, sleeves. Although denied a chance to appear in the cinema, this unjustly neglected direct-to-video sequel delivers the same winning mixture of cornpone and gore that made the original Tremors a cult classic. Although Kevin Bacon is missing, Michael Gross and the wonderful Fred Ward reprise their roles from the first film. A hoot-and-a-half for horror and SF fans, Tremors 2 has some genuine scares and a welcome sense of humour. The DVD, presented in 1.85:1 widescreen format, has trailers for both movies but no other extra features. --Andrew Wright

You have the old man Earl Bassett (Fred Ward) return though, I was surprised to see how much older he looked in this movie, for a film made just six years after the first he looked really rundown. Michael Gross also returns to play the part of Burt Gummer, weapons and tactics expert. This guy is great and puts out a lot of funny lines. Overly serious and comes well prepared as ...more

******************** Contains Spoilers ********************* Following on from the original Tremors, which was an excellent movie, the 'graboids' are back in this surprising sequel. It was made a six years after the original and in it you do see the return of some familiar faces. The story is quite bizarre and really isn't very believable given the nature of the movie. The Mexican army has found an area near their oil refinery that is inhabited by these 'monsters', I wanted to use infested but that really wouldn't be appropriate because they have existed far longer than us humans and have a right to live anywhere they like.. So back to ...  Read the complete review

...."while they are eating you it will give me a chance to get away". Lol, considering this is a horror, it really does have its funny moments! Tremors 2: Aftershocks is the long-awaited sequel to the original Tremors released way back in 1990. Crikey, that seems like a long time ago! If you haven’t seen the original Tremors then firstly, where have you been for the past 12 years?! Before you even contemplate seeing Aftershocks though I really would advice you rent out or borrow from a mate a copy of Tremors, without the basic story line you may find you’re a bit lost as to the story line in Tremors 2. If you can’t find a ...  Read the complete review

Ask most people about Tremors 2 and they have usually never heard of it or cant remember what happened, most people didn't really expect a sequel to a video sleeper but people who saw it would of been pleasantly surprised. All things said its a good sequel again sucessfully combing suspence (to a certain level) and comedy, the writers Brent Maddock and S.S. Wilson drag out the idea continuing from the first just long enough before bringing in a new element to spruce things up. The new direction may not be as compelling, but it's done with a lot of heart and a sense of fun. Fred Ward returns, but as we can all guess Kevin Bacon doesnt after going on to ...  Read the complete review

Tremors 2 ? Aftershocks is the sequel to the kind of successful film Tremors, this had to happen inevitably just like there had to be an Evil Dead 2 etc? The main question was could they get the main starts back to do the sequel. The answer to this is no, this is partly due to the fact that having made Tremors, Kevin Bacon became an in demand actor in Hollywood. The next question would be whether the sequel would be any good, as most tend to flop seriously (with a few exceptions). ** Cast ** Fred Ward ? Earl Basset (from Tremors). Michael Gross ? Burt Grummer (from Tremors). Christopher Gartin ? a young guy in need of kicks. Helen Shaver ? a ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Tremors 2 - Aftershocks (DVD): A not so shocking sequel (296 words)

Well after the enjoyment of the first film, I was hoping for a sequel of worthy proportions, alas I was left cold. A similar plot to the previous film, as the man-eating underground worms return to wreak more havoc. Plot: Set a few years after the events of Tremors, the sequel kicks of in Mexico, in a desolate oilfield. After a string of deaths, Fred Ward's character is called in to rid the area of the tremors. He is swiftly joined by Burt Gummer from the previous film and helped out by newboy Christopher Gartin. Cast: Fred Ward is dependable, though he seems bored by it all and is going through the motions in this one. Gross ...  Read the complete review
