Advantages: A great way to pass some family fun time
Disadvantages: Average timings not accurate
I bought this to provide our family with something to do after our Christmas dinner, which had to be something that included no physical exertion as we are always stuffed to bursting point. In the absence of anything on TV which appealed, I must say it's a very good product.
I wondered exactly how such a game would work on a DVD player, but it's actually been really well thought out. The players must be divided into two teams (gold and silver) and, as in the original Trivial Pursuit, the object is to collect all the different wedges, and proceed to the hub, where you answer a final queston to win. It's all controlled by the DVD player's remote control, and the controls needed are basic, and should be available on all DVD players.
There are various question types, straight question anagrams, fill in the blank word tile, and some have picture, audio or video clues to help. Also, the majority of the questions are open to both teams, and the players must decide and then select which team answered it correctly first. The DVD player keeps track of who's collected which wedges. A handy feature is at the start, where you select a 2, 4, or 6 wegde game, which allows you to alter the time needed to play, though their estimates were miles out in our games.
Sometimes with this style of game, you find after a couple of games, you keep seeing the same questions, so they have included an option to select from various question banks which should ensure better longeveity.
We found the questions to be really hard in some cases and pretty easy in others (then again they say they're only easy if you know the right answer) but a fair mix of levels, and the clues mean you have a chance at answering most eventually.
Summary: Overall for £15 this will give hours of family fun, and won't break the bank either

- 28/12/06 Sounds good but in this house we would have to play the "find the remote control" game first...lol |

- 27/12/06 This would just have caused arguments in my family! |
