Ok what do i want out of a film? Blood, gore, action, style, stylish moves, good lighting, easy story lines. well perhaps i should watch lord of the rings a few more times so i know what else i want from a movie. But one more thing i want from this particular movie is historical accuracy...not total accuracy, but enough so i know what i going to happen before i watch the movie. I was wondering if I should write the review assuming that the knowledge of at least the skeleton of the Trojan War story is a common cultural universal amongst people who are literate and were brought up within the European cultural shadow, or should I assume no previous knowledge and risk being patronising. Brad Pitt stars in this film which for me was the deciding factor for buying the DVD. I had seen it before but never really took much notice of the storyline and after watching it again I have to say I was very impressed by it. The film is set back in the times with the Spartans and the Trojans taking up the country of Greece. The two nations are currently living in peace and getting on with their own lives. That is until Paris, a Trojan, falls for Helen of Sparta who is the King's wife and she runs off with him back to Troy. Review of "Troy" 2 Disc Special Edition DVD The DVD I am reviewing the 2 disc special edition of the DVD. The movie was produced in 2004 by Warner Bros. Pictures. The movie received mediocre praise from the critics for the retelling of Homer's "The Iliad".
