Advantages: Christian Slater, Patricia Arquette, Val Kilmer as Elvis!

Disadvantages: None

TRUE ROMANCE is an excellent film. Directed by Tony Scott it stars Christian Slater as Clarence Worley, a guy who loves movies and who works in a comic book shop in Detroit. Clarence falls in love with Alabama, a prostitute whose pimp (named Drexl) he soon goes off to kill. The pair then head off to Los Angeles with some of Drexl's cocaine, and get involved with movie producers, hitmen, and old friends.

The storyline is excellent, but it is the characters who really shine in the movie. Written by Quentin Tarantino when he was still an unknown working in a video shop, the script allows the actors to real give live to the people they are playing. As Clarence, Slater gives a career-defining performance (equalled only by his part as J.D. in the also excellent HEATHERS), and Patricia Arquette, as Alabama, looks gorgeous and is very believable.

There are too many other stars to mention, but when I say they include Gary Oldman (as Drexl), Brad Pitt, Christopher Walken, and Val Kilmer as Elvis (yes, that's right, Elvis PRESLEY!!), you'll understand the calibre of the film.

This is definately a film to seek out and enjoy again and again.

I love this film as well. It's one of those you can watch again and again, The ending really cool as well. If you like Christian Slater in this you should watch Very Bad Things.
