This is a film I watched a lot as a child and then it got lost somewhere in the transition from video to DVD. However, a little while ago, I stumbled across it on DVD in our local second hand shop and fell back in love with it. The Plot Basically, we join the film just a week before police detective Scott Turner (Tom Hanks) is due to move to his promotion in the big city, leaving behind the small town in which he currently works. In his last week, he visits Amos, an old man who lives on the docs with his dog Hooch and has a complaint regarding the noisy late night activity of some suspicious men further along the docs. Now Hooch has never had ... Read the complete review

***This is a film only review*** Introduction ========== When I finished work on Sunday night I needed something just to unwind and relax me. Flicking through all the channels I stopped on ITV3 a channel I am not usually one to watch but this film was about to start and it is one I have not seen in years but was the perfect for me to watch late on Sunday evening. The Plot ======= Scott Turner is a detective in a small town where nothing ever happens so much so that he is only a few days away from being relocated to the big city. Turner is not the type of person you expect to own a dog his life is all about order ... Read the complete review

This is an enjoyable little comedy which was made in 1989 and that stars Tom Hanks although the real star is the slobbering dog that he ends up taking custody of. Hnks plays Det. Scott Turner whose orderly life is turned upside. With only a few days to go until he leaves his job for a higher profile one in the city Turner is called to a murder scene at the harbour and guarding the body is a dog tat is clearly mourning the loss of his owner. Rather than have the dog put down Turner takes him in believing him to be a witness to the identity of the killer. Cast List Tom Hanks ... Det. Scott Turner Mare Winningham ... Before Tom Hanks went on to pick up a couple of oscars and demonstrate his acting ability he appeared in some rather ropey so called comedies. Turner and Hooch is an example of this. Hanks shares the starring role with a rather large slobbering dog (you can tell I know nothing about dogs as I'm not sure of the breed, possibly a St Bernard)Said dog was the only witness to the murder of is owner. Hanks who is a fussy singleton who avoids commitment finds himself becomming the guardian of the dog as he investigates the murder. This is the cue for some fairly predictable dog disrupts mans life, man grudgingly forms bond with dog, man and dog ... Read the complete review

turner is a policeman who ends up having to 'adopt' hooch (a dog) after his owner is killed. turner is obsessed with clean and tidyness so having a big slobbering dog running around isn't his idea of fun. lots of laughs as the 2 get into all sorts of mischief and try to catch hooch's original owners killer. the dog in this movie is very cute and funny and tom hanks (turner) is entertaining too. if u want a light funny film then choose this ...
